McGraw’s Kid

(Click on the thumbnail for the bigger, better version)

It’s always something with me, isn’t it?

This time, the distraction is eight weeks old and weighs maybe four pounds. So far, his only name is Puppy, although he is occasionally referred to as “Mcgraw’s Kid”. His sire, Brangay Quick Draw, is known to most as McGraw. Does this mean Puppy needs to have a name such as Wild Bill Hickock, or Wyatt Earp. I hope not.

One thing is certain. Not only is Puppy the center of attention, but hunting him down and preparing for his arrival totally consumed every waking moment for more than a week. I could say now that he is here, life will be more normal. But, that wouldn’t be smart, now would it? It is a fact that life will be different.

By the way, brace yourself for occasional puppy pictures. If you are one of those who can’t handle syrupy sweet puppy photos now and again, step away from the blog.

  1. If the sire is Quick Draw, then I think this pup should be Instant Photo, and the call name should be 'Polaroid'. Or maybe 'Instant Copy' and 'Xerox'.

But then I have a weakness for giving dogs photo related names, since our current canine family member is named "Minor White" and is called 'Kodak'.

  5. I vote for "Billy the Kid" as a name. What, it's been a day and no new photos? ~grin~

  6. Paul - I have never struggled so with a name for a dog. I'm puzzled. Eventually, it will fall into place. I hope it feels as perfect as Kodak.

  7. Monte - If only I had the energy to take and post as many photos as I would like to! Thanks for the encouragement.

  8. Ray - I have waited a long time and he is worth the wait. Want to come do some of the walks and play sessions? Whew. He has a lot of energy.

  9. Chris - I could use more help. He is wearing me out. I had these illusions that I would take dozens of photos. Hah!

  10. Paul - I know that in many ways I will be sorry when the puppy stage is over. However, I supect I will get more photos taken after this delightful period has been lost. I need a vitamin boost.

  11. Rakesh - He certainly is adorable—and, I think he knows it. Who could resist that face?

  12. Earl - Ah, joining in on the shaming business, aren't you? Each day, I think this will be the day I take more photos. But, there are meals to feed, games to play, romps to be taken, a coat to be brushed. Yikes.

  13. Anil - And, I think he uses that smile purposely to melt our hearts.
