Back From My Christmas Adventure

This time I really was off on an adventure, and I will tell about some of the good parts later.

I had been feeling really rotten for about a week and on Christmas Eve our treat was a trip to the Emergency Room in Bakersfield. Not a fun place to wait for Santa, I'll tell you.

I am much better now, but exhausted. It's 2:20 PM and I'm tired. That stinks.

I may have stories about some of the wonderful people I met, but no photos. The Husband knew that I was really in pain because I wasn't taking any pictures and didn't want to take a camera with me when we headed to Bakersfield.

I felt bad about not posting a Merry Christmas message here. I did have good intentions. And, yes, I know which road is paved with that exact material.

I hope everyone had a jolly good holiday. My spirits were lifted by all the marvelous people who took such good care of me. They all worked through Christmas with such great cheer. Along with all the lousy jerks we hear about on the news who do their best to make "human being" a pejorative term, there are so many lovely people in the world. I was blessed to land in a whole nest of the loveliest, just when I needed them most.

  1. It is nice to know good people are there to help when we sometimes least expect it. I'm glad you were blessed with them. And, Merry Christmas to you and the hubby!

  2. Thank you, Monte. It wasn't a conventional Merry Christmas, but we thought it wasn't so bad. I wish you a wonderful, prosperous, and healthy New Year.

  3. To be honest, I was worried about you, but hoped that you'd just gotten distracted with your lighting equipment, had forgotten about your computer skills, and forgot how to post! I'm very happy to hear that you are on the mend. You know it's bad when you don't want to take your camera with you! Merry Christmas, anyway!

  4. Paul - For several days, before the signs got to the point that they couldn't be ignored, I just didn't feel like doing anything. But, even then, I took photos. Dumb photos of nothing much. I supose I just needed to hear the sound of the shutter. When I couldn't even think about picking up the camera, I knew there was Trouble in River City. I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas!

  5. Anita, being sick on the holiday can be extremely awful (beyond the just plain awful of being sick). Glad to hear you're better enough to post!

  6. Please take care of your self. I am glad to hear you are on the mend and you are the second of my friends to spend the holidays in the hospital. My other friend almost didn't make it so I am now worried about both of you. Glad to hear you are on the mend and remember spring is just around the corner.

  7. Anita: you are sounding well so I hope you are or at least at the shorter end of that stick.

I find good intentions are always good, no matter what the actual outcomes is.

I find there are very few dumb photos unless we are referring to those who post questionable material on Facebook etc. There is only exploring what your mind sees. It’s just some are better than others and some others don’t get (too bad for them).

I wish you and your family a very great new year when it arrives.

  8. Chris - Being sick for the holidays was not fun, but there was quite a lot of Christmas spirit at the hospital and that helped enormously.

  9. Ray - Oh, goodness, I wasn't nearly so bad off as your friend. I hope your friend will get much better soon. And, thank you, I will take care of myself.

  10. Niels - Sometimes I think that the sound of the shutter has a therapeutic effect on me. That means even when I take photos that I know I will never transfer from card to computer, I enjoy the exercise of taking the picture. I enjoyed your affirmation of the value of good intentions. They certainly beat bad intentions, don't they? I wish you and your family a Happy New Year, as well.

  11. Oh, so you have been ill? Poor you! Take care of yourself now, and do press that shutter a much as you can, just for the mere sound of it. I quite agree with that, the shutter has a therapeutic effect on me too.

  12. Ove - I am so pleased to know that someone else finds that sound therapeutic. It's a little difficult to understand its effectiveness, but it certainly works for me. Thank you the good thoughts. I'll be better soon.
