Blue Horse and Other Dreams

(Click on the thumbnail for the bigger, better version)

These days, I am not only dreaming about blue horses, but all the art show deadlines on my calendar.  A framed print of the blue horse above sold in October and will be part of the next show on the horizon.

At the end of this month, I will be part of the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Spring Show. Of course, any sane person would simply have filled in the entry form with names of pieces currently hanging on the walls in our house and that would have completed my preparation. However, that sane part would describe someone else. Certainly not me. Instead of taking the easy path, I am working on something new for this show that has raised a whole bucket-load of questions and new challenges. I won't get into details until I know that it either has worked or turned into a flop. I am sane enough to have provided myself with a backup in case this experiment fails. You can bet that I will eventually let you know how the experiment goes.

Each artist is limited to five pieces and for this show I have decided to go with all equine prints. With the publishing of this post, you will have seen all the images to be used for the show. When I get closer to the show, I will publish a link to the five pieces and let you see my portion of the big annual show and social event here in Bear Valley Springs.

You can get more background on the horse above, how this piece evolved, and how it is displayed at Anita Jesse.

  1. Anita, for all this hard work, this "insanity" there is excitement also -- I can hear it in your "voice." I admire you for pushing beyond what would have been easier. It's a good lesson for me to remember in my own efforts.

And, I like the blue horse.

  2. I love the commentary on Blue Horse Dreaming form your site and the photo is nothing less than stunning. I predict that the Spring Show will be very successful for you (and other artists as well). I think with the 5 piece limit, the all equine prints will show your gift in this subject very well. Good luck, Spring is almost here.

    1. Ken, thank you for your kind compliment and for reading the commentary at the other site. I am trying to add some things at that site to make it worth the extra click and appreciate your taking a look. I am looking forward to the opening and hope we will all have a sensational show. Thanks for your good wishes.

  3. All that I can do is smile and admire your moxie, my friend! You've found another hill to climb! Well, tally-ho! Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes. Will you go charging into battle mounted on the back of your trusty blue steed? :D Looking forward to hearing the results.

    1. I am pleased that you are smiling, Paul. Indeed, I will always find another hill to climb. And, I think charging up that hill on a blue, fiery-eyed steed is exactly the way to go. Thanks for your comments.

  5. I am so glad that the blue horse passes muster, Earl. You are dead right that I find it exciting to keep trying things. I have never been very disciplined about simply repeating what works. Instead, I am always looking for ways to try some new twist on what works. You do that, too, just maybe in ways a bit more measured, thoughtfully considered, and, well, "sane". It keeps us motivated and our work fresh.

  6. I so love your equine images; and this is no exception. You always manage to capture their power and spirit so elegantly. I'll look forward to hearing what kind of "insane" things you are up to!

    1. Roberta, you must think me quite rude for not having responded to your lovely comment. Your work inspires me, always, and your encouraging words provide a nice boost, as well. From my heart, thank you for the comment. Soon, there will be updates regarding my "insane" things.

  7. Sounds like you have a well full of creativity to draw upon Anita. Love this image, probably one of the more unique horse images I have seen.

    1. My apologies, Mark, for being so slow to say "thank you". So far, I continue to be inspired to try new things. Still, I don't kid myself that I won't hit blank walls. It happens. For the moment, I am relishing being on this roll. Hmmm. Maybe this illness forced me to take a break. Can't say, I garnered any recoverable inspiration during my fevered dreams.

Thank you for your kind words. I am delighted that you are okay with blue horses.
