Headed in the Right Direction

Finally, I am headed in the right direction and that is news for which I am grateful. Because this recovering from surgery is a slow process, I am learning more lessons in patience. Furthermore, I am learning a great deal about moving slowly, as well as purposefully. Gee, I have a long list of rules to follow. There are rules for everything. Sitting, standing, walking, even brushing my teeth! The limitations are too many to count and all those limitations contribute to days that are indescribably boring.

In spite of the boredom, however, my spirits are quite high. The pain I feel now is different and being able to walk more is quite the treat. For several weeks, I could hardly walk at all and now I walk back and forth to the main living area multiple times each day. It is a big deal to me.

I fill parts of each day daydreaming about all the things I will do when the biggest chunk of the recovery is behind me. Hey, it’s free, and I can do it without breaking any of the rules.

Because sitting is not something I get to do a great deal of, my posts here will be infrequent and brief. I look forward to getting back into the blogging world. I have been away far to long.

Hope to be more active soon.

  3. Anita, it's so good to have you back again!! I know that it's difficult to take it slowly but it's usually the only way to heal. Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  4. Earl - Thanks for the warm welcome back. I have been pretty good about the rules, and I am growing stronger. The most difficult part is feeling so separated from my camera.

  5. Mary Ann - Thank you for the good thoughts for a speedy recovery. This long absence has been a strange period. I have felt so cut off from everything.

  6. Steve - When it comes to following all these rules, I would say I rate at least a B+. I strive for that A, but I don't think I deserve it. Although I know how important it is to go slowly, it's a challenge.

I will have a Happy Thanksgiving, thank you, and I wish you the same. I am rich with reasons to be thankful; and, even as I moan and groan, I maintain my perspective and count my blessings for such a small and insignificant challenge.

  8. Rakesh - I appreciate the warm welcome. Yesterday, I picked up my camera for the first time in many, many weeks. What a wonderful feeling! Not surprisingly, it felt quite heavy. Still, it was a bit like coming home after a very long trip.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes. Our day will be low key, but full of joy and thanksgiving.

  11. Monte - Thank you for the encouragement.

Nothing keeps you on the straight and narrow like pain and/or exhaustion. A twinge of pain in my back or difficulty putting one foot in front of the next (just from doing too much) and the rules flood my mind. No, mostly I am good. But, when I do get impatient, those warnings stick with me for quite a while.

I took some photos a few days ago and look forward to posting them. I hope winter won't be over before I am up to it!

  12. Paul - I appreciate the welcome! I miss my computer time something fierce. Now I truly appreciate my good fortune in having been able to spend long periods of time each day browsing blogs and putting up posts once in a while. A little late, sigh.
